Stanford Health Care Releases iOS MyHealth App

Stanford Health Care has just released its new iOS 8 app called myHEALTH. myHEALTH is an app for Stanford Health patients, designed to make all of their health information available from their own smartphones.

“We are reinventing how healthcare is delivered and our new custom MyHealth app is an important milestone in our efforts,” said Stanford Health Care President and CEO Amir Dan Rubin. “We provide care for some of the most technologically sophisticated patients in the country, whose lives revolve around innovation. After carefully evaluating all of the available mobile technologies, we recognized that to meet the needs and expectations of our patients we had to develop our own solution that worked seamlessly with our existing electronic health record system.”

myHEALTH gives patients the ability to make appointments, get test results, communicate easily with their medical team, manage medications and prescriptions, and pay medical expenses. Users can even have virtual appointments with their doctors with a feature in the app similar to FaceTime.

This follows a report from Reuters that claimed Stanford was planning to work with Apple’s HealthKit. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, confirmed this rumor to investors. Reteurs recently found that hospitals throughout America are planning to use HealthKit themselves. HealthKit is Apple’s API for software developers to design health-related applications for iOS devices.

So far, myHEALTH has only received eighteen reviews in the App Store, but they average out to a perfect five stars, meaning that the app has been well received as of yet. myHEALTH is now available for download in the Apple App store for free, where current patients can log in with their myHEALTH account.
