Span Smartwatch Concept by Box Clever

As more and more smartwatches make their way to market attempting to completely alter the way we view screens on our wrist, San Francisco based studio Box Clever is trying to make that transition seem a bit more natural. Their smartwatch concept Span reduces the size of the notification “screen” on the watch, and compliments it with a stylish, yet traditional mechanical watch face. From an industrial design perspective, this leads us to ask, how much screen is actually necessary?  As the Span concept video shows, reducing screen size to span just enough space for the user to read notifications, coupled with easy controls, can make for one seriously stylish and desirable watch!
