Samsung to Offer Watches with Android and Tizen

Samsung appears willing to test the Android Wear platform on its most recent Gear smartwatches. This offering competes directly with its proprietary Tizen platform.  Samsung is said to be releasing the Android-focused Gear watches by the end of Q2 of this year.

Samsung may have no choice but to offer an Android version of its devices given the other large players that have joined the Android platform, including LG and Motorola. Samsung has offered that its Tizen platform will cater to markets that Android does not appeal to, though Android’s popularity is hard to argue against. It will certainly be telling to see the sales figures between the Tizen and Android versions of the Gear.
