Samsung and Oculus Rift‘s long awaited collaboration is reaching a peak with the Samsung Gear VR now available for purchase. This virtual reality device is powered by the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and unfortunately is not compatible with other smartphones or devices. Despite that, Oculus VR has worked closely with Samsung to deliver a premium virtual reality experience. The Innovator Edition was developed with a highly optimized VR graphics path integrated with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
With the launch of the Innovator Edition, the Oculus VR Store is launching coinciding with the latest virtual reality device. The Oculus VR Store will be an integrated discovery and distribution system for virtual reality content. The Oculus 360 Videos is another feature where you can view otherworldly environments like a superhero’s lair or a scenic helicopter tour. Oculus Cinema allows you to watch virtually any type of video in a wholly different way. Gaming is also a great feature, giving you a completely different way to play video game classics as well as new gamed designed with virtual reality in mind.
You can purchase the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition on Samsung’s website for $199.99. The headset comes with 16 GB microSD card, lens cloth, replacement face cushioning, and SD card adapter. Keep in mind you do need the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to operate this latest virtual reality device.
