Microsoft Announces Hololens Headset

In a slew of new announcements today, Microsoft announced the debut of a new head-mounted wearable computer dubbed “Microsoft Hololens.” The device is a holographic standalone computer meant to add holograms to the physical spaces around you. The augmented reality headset allows users to interact with the three dimensional holograms that blend into existing line of site:
Microsoft has hinted at various use cases for the device, specifically mentioning the following in its press releases items:
“…you’ll have a new medium to express your creativity, a more efficient way to teach and learn, and a more effective way to visualize your work and share your ideas with others.”
Microsoft also launched a site and twitter handle solely for the Hololens.
The device is still in early stages of development, but will be made “available within the Microsoft Windows 10 timeframe.” We will be updating as more news on the wearable device becomes available.
