The wearables for kids market has been heating up with new entrants as of late. Kids educational technology maker LeapFrog has now entered the game with its LeapBand. The wrist-worn device features fitness tracking and virtual pets, and is aimed at kids ages 4-7. The device aims to get kids to be more active by gamification techniques. Kids can earn points through activities and keep up with a progress bar.
The band allows for points to be accumulated which can unlock features on other LeapFrog devices. The wristband is waterproof, features parental controls, audio instructions, and a rechargeable battery. The device is not yet available for purchase, but parents can sign up for notifications as to a sale date.
