Intel’s MICA, The New Luxurious Smart Bracelet

Intel’s MICA is the new smart bracelet on the scene designed for the fashionable, modern woman in mind. MICA, designed by Opening Ceremony and engineered by Intel, incorporates technology with fashion. Most notably the smart bracelet comes packaged with a GPS chip, 3G radio, AT&T Sim card with data and SMS messages, and integration with TomTom and Yelp.

The MICA’s unique design composed of semiprecious gems and Ayers snakeskin. The bracelet touts a 1.6 inch OLED touchscreen display found on the inside allowing the user to read text messages, catch up on Google and Facebook notifications, and find local business recommendations. Other useful features include creating a VIP contact list and custom quick replies, alleviating the hassle of searching for you phone or interrupting an event or meeting to deal with your phone. MICA offers another function called time-to-go technology, that notifies the wearer when it’s time to leave an event based on anticipation of another event at a different location. The bracelet supports up to 48 hours of battery life making this wearable convenient for those on the go.

“MICA acts as an extension of a customer’s smartphone, for those times when it’s not convenient to carry one with you,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president, Internet of Things Solutions, AT&T.

 

Intel announced that MICA will go on sale in time for Christmas, and will cost $495. The bracelet comes bundled with an AT&T Sim card, data, and messaging plan for two years. You will be able to purchase a MICA exclusively at Barneys.
