Gucci grabs musician will.i.am for smartwatch collaboration

What’s that sound? Oh, just the racket of yet another influential brand jumping on the smartwatch bandwagon.
Similar to Tag Heuer, Gucci took the opportunity to announce plans with musician will.i.am to release its own smartwatch at BaselWorld. The watch is still in concept-form, so no release dates have been appended to the collaboration. However, unlike the Tag announcement, a rendering of the actual design has been published.

Will.i.am is no stranger to wearable tech, having previously released the Puls “smart cuff” in conjunction with AT&T.
“Wearable technology and smart devices represent a new frontier for the fashion industry. It is very appropriate that Gucci is leading the way through this collaboration with will.i.am, as innovation has always been such an important part of our DNA,” said Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri.
